ABOUT ME

Me on a trip to Niagara Falls from 2024

I am a Mexican game designer and programmer based in Ontario, Canada. I am experienced in many different game engines and their respective programming languages such as Unity, Unreal Engine, UEFN, UDK, and Godot. Currently a 3rd year Bachelor of Game Design student at Sheridan College.

I've been playing games since I can remember; ever since my dad got me and my brother an original Xbox with Lego Star Wars and Crash Bandicoot Warped I have not been able to put down the controller, which is why I jumped at the opportunity to join this industry as soon it presented itself.

I am incredibly passionate about games and wish to create the same kinds of experiences that shaped me as I was growing up for newer generations. At the same time, games have helped me through so much turmoil

in my own personal life so I understand just how impactful our medium can be, which is why I treat the process of design and development with the utmost respect and dedication.

INTERESTS

  • Video Games (obviously): Video games have been a part of my life ever since I can remember. They are so important to the core of my being that it is impossible to imagine what my life would be like without them. Celeste (2018) is a particular example of a game that arrived at the perfect time of my life and is what motivated me to start my development journey. The Kingdom Hearts franchise is one that I've cherished ever since I played Birth by Sleep on the PSP, regardless of its convoluted narrative. More recently I've fallen in love with the Persona franchise despite not really liking turn-based RPGs all that much, and yet the incredible soundtracks, stylish presentation, UX design, and narratives have been enough to win me over.

  • Film: Only second to games, film is one of my favorite art forms. I love the experience of going to a movie theatre and losing myself in a world for a couple of hours. Some of my favorite movies include La La Land (2016), Knives Out (2019), and Robot Dreams (2023).

  • Gym: I've always been an active person, and I've been going to the gym on and off since I was in high school, but recently I've started going with my college buddies which has helped me stay motivated and continue going on a regular basis.

  • Music: I try to put on music whenever I can, whether I'm working, doing chores or driving, I always seem to find some time for music. Growing up in Yucatan, Mexico, I never really got to experience concerts since not many artists tended to visit, especially none that I particularly liked, but ever since I moved to Canada I've taken every opportunity to see artists live such as Beach House, Weyes Blood, Alvvays, and The Postal Service.

  • Cycling: I never really considered cycling a hobby that I particularly enjoyed until I moved to Canada and saw just how surrounded by nature my neighborhood is, which provides a really nice atmosphere as I burn my legs away trying to cycle up steep hills which are also everywhere in Canada apparently.

  • Comic Books: I've always had a passing interest in comic books as a medium. I grew up watching many cartoons about superheroes and, of course, the giant cultural phenomenon that is (or at least used to be) the MCU. Despite this, I only started actually reading comics very recently, starting off with Cristopher Hastings' Unbelievable Gwenpool run which is a lot of fun, and just picking whatever looks interesting from there.

  • Pets: I've had a few pets in my lifetime, when I was in 6th grade I begged my parents to get me a mini pig because I thought they were really cute. That's how we ended up with Mia who we soon realized wasn't a mini pig at all! She unfortunately passed away a few years ago. Since then, me and my brother have adopted 2 pets, a dog named Dakota and a cat named Kali.
